Today was a big day for angler Mark Morehead. He caught his first ever Black Drum while fishing on Charlotte Harbor! It was a very foggy start this morning while we trolled out into the harbor. We caught some Sheepshead and Mangrove Snapper in a couple of deeper holes, after that we moved on to have a bite to eat ourselves. While eating we discussed a school of Redfish that we knew were located about 5 miles from the restaurant. So we took off again to find these fish that we had been hearing about. Within the first 10 minutes of finding the spot we were hooked up on two slot sized Redfish!
Within a half hour we had 15 fish boated all within competition size limits! Having conquered that fishing hole we now had to take on the ultimate challenge of finding the elusive Black Drum. We traveled back to the North end of the harbor into a deep water canal and there we found the fish that he had been waiting to catch for over 40 years! It was a good 15 minute fight as he reeled the fish to the boat! Check out the photo below!
